A Fun Family Weekend

March 1, 2010

Happy Monday Foodies!

To say I am recharged is an understatement.   We took the weekend off from cooking and went to Massanutten, VA to do some skiing and sightseeing.

Here are the highlights…

Massanutten VA ski community and 6000 acres of fun and scenery.

Taking my two girls skiing for the first time was incredible…

Did some go-cart racing in sub-zero weather, my fingers can barely type!

Went to a very huge indoor waterpark.  I felt like a kid again…

Saw waxed Mountain Men and beautiful natural granite arches at Natural Bridge VA…

And last but certainly not least, we had a memorable culinary experience at…

Where I was chased inside by noneother than the BAD king and sat down to recover next to the GOOD king!

The atmosphere was delightfully Kitschy and the Wurlitzers genuine.

Of course while sitting in the presence of his majesty, I just had to order the ELVIS BURGER! The house specialty made fresh daily…

All hail the mighty Elvis Burger...Stacks of meat with Secret Sauce!

And to wrap things up, nothing else but Genuine Hersheys Ice Cream at a Genuine American Soda Counter…

A last look at a bit of American iconography in all of it’s delicious glory…

I can’t tell you how much fun we had.  You will have to take my word for it.  Or better yet, if you are on Interstate 81 at mile marker 180a in Virginia, exit and follow the signs to the Pink Cadillac Diner(right off the exit) and find out for yourself.  I got there before Guy Fieri so tell them Eric sent you.  And look out for King Kong while you are there. He hides out on the left side of the building…

Although this admittedly was not the normal blog posting, we are after all culinary adventurers and this was an adventure. Look for our next national dish tomorrow, and an exciting contest which I will announce later today!!
